The Convener's Speech on TYPI

Since the inception of Taraba Youth Peace Initiative in 2018. The initiative came up with a project #OurTarabaIsForPeaceCampaign.

          The Campaign was initiated to address the mindset of Tarabans to view Peace has the key tool in opening the door to development of Taraba State. Therefore, the message of the #OurTarabaIsForPeaceCampaign comes with a light that gives all the people of Taraba an understanding of putting peace first on the scale of preference above all interest such as tribal, Religion, political interest.

          The Campaign have gone to markets, motor parks, Mosque, Churches, Youths Organization, Political Organizations, Jingles and on Social Media. Where people hold the campaign placards indicating their support for peace in Taraba State.

          The mandate of Peace Advocacy is not built on the foundation of selfishness, cheap popularity and political identification. If peace is built on a negative base then I tell you the walls built will surely fall for violence, and all other social vices to come in.

          But the capacity of Taraba Youth Peace Initiative is built on the foundation of selfleness, love in view for sustainable development and passionate act for peace building in Taraba State.

It is a matter of concern when people politicize peace building with a point view towards a short walls with no roof, and a foundation on a shaking grounds. Young Tarabans should know eruption of violence affects the space where our potentials as youth will be optimized to a level of no satisfactory developmental values. Because there will no be a meaningful standard of carrying our vision for better Taraba.

My message for Peace building is on the perspective beyond 2019.

          As a Peace Advocate and convener of Taraba Youth Peace Initiative I urge all Tarabans to indicate peace above all interest on their scale of preference. And the youths should know that violence, thuggery, drugs abuse and all other social vices aill never be gainful towards a positive perspective of taking Taraba State to the level of achieving the goal of sustainable development standard.

          Therefore, let’s keep selfishness, violence, religious differences and political views behind and build a peaceful Taraba State for the contemporary benefit and for our unborn Tarabans to explore. Our campaign for peace is going down to the grassroots, our intentions will follow an approach meaningful to the understanding of common Tarabans.
